About Me
- MYTH OF THE MOTHERLAND
- is a new documentary film project produced/directed by Lisa Russell and is joined by creative producer, Carlos Andres Gomez. MYTH OF THE MOTHERLAND is intended to address myths and stereotypes about Africa and Africans. Following the creative writing journey of young spoken word poets from NYC - who are armed with notebooks and video cameras - MYTH OF THE MOTHERLAND intends to give "the mic" to African scholars, writers, poets/griots, entreprenuers and others in order for them to tell their own stories, in their own words. MYTH OF THE MOTHERLAND is fiscally sponsored by IFP and was a 2008 recipient of a NYSCA grant. For more information, please email lisa@governessfilms.com.
